“The virtuosity of drag, cabaret and neoburlesque” at Small Arts Festival
The virtuosity of drag, cabaret and neoburlesque brings together Ensemble No More Reality (France), the Cultural Centre of Belgrade (Serbia), Coalition MARGINS (North Macedonia), and Emanat (Slovenia) in order to develop a project which aims to support artistic works and artists unrepresented in the theatre context, as well as individuals and social groups facing marginalisation.
The project wants to highlight the hybrid and non-institutional stage productions, which are currently developing but still not very visible, by presenting the work of groups and individual performers in Southeast Europe while addressing social issues related to the position of women and LGBTQIA+ community in contemporary performing arts.
The main events will take place in the frame of the Small Arts Platform, a festival dedicated to so-called „small“ performances in the theatrical context due to their bold content and social commentary. The festival features performances, workshops, and talks, bringing together local and international artists around stage practices such as cabaret, queer burlesque, stand-up, and improvisational theatre.
This program is being supported through the Teatroskop 2024 call for projects.
